Old fire truck becomes a camper, by Janna

In this project, Janna shows how she used custom-sawn wood paneling in the conversion of an old fire truck. By ordering your sawn wood and sheet material online, you can get started right away. Because Janna is a less experienced handyman, it has helped her enormously in realizing her converted camper!

I bought an old fire brigade bus and am using it, without experience , converting it into a camper to travel in for a year!

How I made this project

In a period of 5 weeks I converted a camper. I watched a lot of videos on YouTube and started making a design via Tinkercad.com. First I had to remove the passenger seats from the bus, then insulate them, secure the walls, build a frame, build walls and doors, install a kitchenette, install electricity, varnish and paint, laminate and decorate aesthetically! Under the motto 'two steps forward, one step back', I spend a lot of time fumbling around and trying. Luckily I have two people around me with tools, because I don't have much more than a screwdriver and a hammer. With their knowledge and tools (and occasionally some guidance), I then get to work myself! With a few minor mistakes, I learn a lot and I also expand my tool vocabulary! I now almost dare to say that I know what I am doing :)
