Marble wall panel; what is it?

What a handy and versatile wall panel this is. Ideal and specially made for bathrooms, kitchens and toilets. But of course it can also be used in other rooms in the house. For example in the kitchen or the hall. It is real top quality and 100% waterproof. This wall panel is coloured through and through.

The wall panel is completely smooth, so that dirt and lime do not easily adhere. The high-gloss top layer is made of cast acrylic. In the market, acrylic is also known as Plexiglas, Perspex or PMMA. It is one of the most popular plastics. This is because it is an excellent replacement for glass. It is up to 25 times stronger than glass, making it a lot safer. It is also much cheaper than glass and much lighter. And it is easy to keep clean by using, for example, all-purpose cleaner or chlorine (no scouring sponges or caustic cleaning agents).

Mounting of wall panels

We cut the wall panels professionally and to the millimetre. Do you want cut-outs (e.g. for a sink drain)? Then please apply these yourself. Use a circle or jigsaw with fine teeth for this. Tip: always saw a sample piece first.

  1. Ensure that walls are dry, degreased and even. The wall panels can be applied directly to the old tiling. Make sure that the underlying seams are glued.
  2. Paint the corners and possible seams in the colour of the panel. This way you will see the least difference in colour due to the silicone sealant.
  3. Sand all edges of the panel smooth, starting with 100-grit paper and finishing with 240-grit paper.
  4. Remove the protective film from the back of the sheet and sand the back, which is against the wall, with 240-grit paper.
  5. Apply lines of BS high tack sealant at intervals of 20 to 30 centimetres. Apply a strip of acid-free BS alcoxy sillicone sealant to the edges of the wall panel (5mm).
  6. Position the panels against the wall with a distance of 3 mm between the panels (and the ceiling/shower tray, etc.) using tile cross pieces.
  7. Finally, neatly seal all edges and seams with BS alcoxy sillicone sealant.
  8. Remove the protective film.
