MDF Water-resistant V313: what is it?
MDF Water-resistant is a widely usable board that is suitable for various interior panelling applications where the space is humid, such as in the bathroom and in the kitchen. It is also known as MDF V313. The V313 characteristic comes from the test for Water resistance that the board undergoes, which is called V313. It indicates that the board is not only Water resistant, but also water and mould resistant. Please note that the board is not waterproof! Water-resistant MDF boards are made of dried wood fibres and glue. These wood fibres are then pressed together under high pressure and temperatures to form an MDF board. In the case of MDF Water-resistant, a special Water-resistant adhesive is used. To enhance the Water resistant properties, the material is pressed under a higher pressure compared to MDF clear. Due to the extra hard pressing, this wood species is easy to process. Damp-proof MDF boards can be recognised by their green core. If you wish to work with a 'blank sheet' that is Water-resistant, go for MDF Water-resistant. MDF Water Resistant V313 is not suitable for outdoor use.
MDF Water-resistant is a construction board. This means that this board material requires the necessary finishing before it can be used for visible work. This board is not suitable for outdoor applications.
MDF Water-resistant V313 Black - Matt
MDF Water-resistant V313 Black - Matt has a core coloured grey through and through with a matt lacquered on two sides. The advantage of this is that the material is immediately ready for use in your project. The ends of MDF Water-resistant V313 Black Matt must, depending on the situation, be finished with an edge sealer before, during or after use. The clear coat allows the characteristic wood fibre structure of the MDF to show through. This makes it a suitable choice for various interior applications. The neutral appearance of MDF Water-resistant V313 Black High Gloss lacquered ensures that the material blends in effortlessly with a wide range of interior styles.

Machining of MDF Water-resistant boards
MDF is very easy to process: when milling and sawing, the material does not splinter. To do justice to the Water-resistant properties of Water-resistant MDF, it is important to seal the board properly at the edges. The top and bottom edges may be finished with a top layer, but not the edges. The ends therefore deserve extra attention. MDF fibres have an inherent suction effect. In the case of MDF Water-resistant, this effect is less than in the case of MDF untreated, but it is still important to treat the edges with an edge sealer.
Specific applications of MDF Water-resistant V313 Black - Matt
MDF is the material of choice for furniture and interior applications. This can be a cupboard, a wall or a complete casing. With this moisture-resistant lacquered variant, the furniture is also suitable for the bathroom, garage or kitchen. Examples of projects are a bathroom cabinet, a kitchen cabinet, a partition wall in the bathroom or a window sill. The even and neutral appearance of MDF moisture-resistant V313 Black Matt Lacquered makes it suitable for all types of kitchens, bathrooms or applications in humid areas where creating a beautiful base is important. Because of its lacquer coating, MDF water-resistant V313 Black Matt Lacquered is less suitable for workbenches and surfaces that are subject to wear or high concentrated pressure. The edges are unfinished, so they deserve extra attention!
