Betuwemix is a solid board composed of mixed fruit woods. The composition of the solid board is carefully sorted by drawing, colour and shrinkage coefficient. This creates a unique look that you only get with mixed fruit woods. The solid betuwemix panels in our range are of premium (A/B) quality. This makes it suitable for various sight applications indoors such as tables, coves, displays and furniture finishing. You can have our solid timber panels cut in various shapes and finishes. Whether you go for an industrial table or bring more warmth into your home with solid wall shelves, anything is possible. That's really convenient!

Solid Betuwemix sheet material

Solid boards constructed from Betuwemix fruitwood contain little to no knots. The different types of wood may discolour when exposed to daylight. When you sand the panel, the original colour will return, which is highly recommended before finishing the panel with a stain, lacquer or oil. Betuwe mix, the name says it all, is a mix of fruit woods. It contains both light and dark wood, which makes for an exceptional look. The markings on the timbers have a straight, sometimes wavy grain and a fine grain. To achieve a solid wood mix board, small planks are cut from the wood (slats), which are then finger-joined. Finger-joining involves milling a figure at the ends of the slats so that the slats can be glued securely. The result is a solid wood board visibly composed of several small slats. These slats run in the longitudinal direction of the board. A solid board of Betuwemix wood is also called a furniture or carpentry panel.

Betuwemix boards with A/B visibility quality

We supply Betuwemix sheets only in A/B quality. A/B describes the appearance of the board and therefore has nothing to do with the structural strength of the material. The term A/B means that the top side of the board has view quality A and the bottom side has view quality B. This means that the top side is almost completely knot-free. Occasionally there may be a small knot here and there, but it will not exceed 4 millimetres. The underside has view quality B and can therefore have a somewhat coarser appearance. Here, knots of a maximum of 7 millimetres are allowed.

Features

Betuwemix solid boards are composed of wooden slats from various fruit trees. Fruit woods are relatively hard. This makes these boards impact-resistant and ideally suited for tables, coves or displays. However, the wood can discolour when exposed to daylight. Once in your home, it is therefore very important to treat this board properly. Sand the board with a fine grain, at least 180, so that the original colour of the wood emerges before finishing it with lacquer, stain or oil. This way, the board becomes the 'eye-catcher' of the room. Read our 3 tips to get started well prepared. Contact with copper, iron or brass can discolour the wood. It is therefore recommended to use stainless steel if you want to join metal. Betuwemix wood is not durable, it is only suitable for indoor use.

Fingerprinted slats, what is that?

Solid wood panels can consist of several wooden planks, also called slats, glued together. This is usually done in two ways: through-laminated or finger-joined. This Betuwemix panel is made of finger-joined slats. These finger-jointed slats collapse into each other, giving you a sturdy panel; sturdier than continuous slats that are just glued together. Betuwemix wood made from finger jointed slats is a sustainable way of using wood, as much of the wood from the trunk can be reused, ensuring a high yield.

Edit Betuwe mix

Betuwemix wood are relatively hard boards. It does not splinter. Do you want to attach Betuwemix with nails or screws? Then pre-drilling is necessary. Oiling this type of wood is recommended primarily as a finishing coat. This is to protect the wood from grease stains and wear and tear. As an additional advantage, a nice oil finish gives the wood a beautiful deep warm colour in which various colour tones become visible.

Alternatives to Solid Betuwe mix

Is solid Betuwemix wood still not the right species for your job or are you looking for a variant that is more robust and darker in colour? Then go for solid timberboard oak or solid timberboard mahogany. Check out our other solid timbers here.
