Jean-Pierre's Project: Custom Sound Flightcase

Looking for inspiration to store and protect your sound equipment? Check out Jean-Pierre's impressive project, who built a custom-made sound flight case for his audio equipment, giving a lesson in creativity and ingenuity.

Projector shimming and protection

One of the main objectives was the projector scan chocking, to ensure maximum safety during transport. This project also included the various projector chocking, with each compartment being adjusted to the precise dimensions of the devices to avoid any movement or damage.

Custom design

This DIY masterpiece was made possible by the perfectly cut wood by TOSIZE.dk. Using natural MDF panels, Jean-Pierre was able to adapt the dimensions of his sound flight case with unrivaled precision. The result is a precise and aesthetically pleasing shim solution, with a noticeable professional touch.

Benefits of building your own sound flight case

One of the biggest advantages of creating your own PA flight case, beyond the pride of self-construction, is the freedom to choose the dimensions and materials. This not only allows you to adapt the cabinet to your specific equipment but also to control the budget. By working the wood yourself, you have the possibility to adjust the measurements to the millimeter, an option that is often expensive when ordering custom orders.

Functionality meets style

A unique aspect of this project is the attention to detail, such as the integration of strategically positioned shelves and drawers for easy access. The natural color of the MDF fits perfectly into any studio, rehearsal or performance space decor, emphasizing the trendy industrial style.

Advantages of MDF panels used

Natural MDF panels of different thicknesses (6 mm, 9 mm, 22 mm) were the key to this project. MDF is a stable and homogeneous material that lends itself perfectly to precise cutting and offers a smooth surface, ideal for custom coatings or paints.

The benefits of 22mm MDF

The 22mm Natural MDF panels provide ideal strength for the outer frame of the flightcase, providing a robust and durable base.

The benefits of 6mm MDF

6mm Natural MDF panels are used for internal partitions, providing sufficient strength while remaining relatively lightweight, making transportation easier.

The benefits of 9mm MDF

9mm MDF is the perfect balance between strength and workability. These panels are ideal for creating internal compartments and shelves that will easily support the weight of audio equipment.
